Client: NATO
Industry: Defence
Summary
As part of the redevelopment of the NATO Defence Procurement Management Course, the Western Consultants Group (WCG) developed training on Government to Government Agreements (MOUs) and managing international cultural differences. The training was successfully delivered on the course held in September 2007 and will be included in future courses. Advice was given on the further development of the course, including the development of a new finance session and a syndicate exercise.
Activities
Aims and objective for the training sessions were agreed with the Course Director. WCG then researched the topics and developed the training material, which consisted of a PowerPoint presentations with speakers notes. The material was reviewed and approved by the Course Director. The training was delivered by the WCG consultant at the course held in September 2007, which was well received by students.
The consultant advised the Course Director on two potential enhancements to the course. The existing Whole Life Cost session should be replaced with a more comprehensive one on project finance. A syndicate exercise should be developed to ensure key learning points are fully achieved and overarching programme management issues addressed. The Course Director accepted these recomendations and reqested a finance session to be developed and proposal made on the syndicate exercise.
Benefits Realised
Evaluation conducted by the Course Director confirmed that the aims and objectivers had been met, and it was decided that the sessions should be included in future courses.
The assignment resulted in the course having greater appeal to potential students, who would be better able to manage international business engagements and utilise Government to Government agreements.
